# Pi v0.80.8: ModelRuntime, xAI OAuth, Grok 4.5, SDK breaking changes

> Major release introducing ModelRuntime — a unified async model configuration and auth facade — replacing the synchronous ModelRegistry and AuthStorage APIs in the SDK. Adds xAI device-code OAuth login, Grok 4.5 with configurable thinking levels, live model catalog refresh via `/model` and `pi update --models`, and extension provider dynamic model discovery. Existing SDK consumers must migrate from `AuthStorage` and `ModelRegistry` methods to `ModelRuntime`.

## What changed


**Breaking**
- Replaced `CreateAgentSessionOptions.authStorage` and `modelRegistry` with async `modelRuntime`; `AuthStorage` no longer exported
- Removed `ModelRuntime.getAll()`, `find()`, `getSnapshot()`, `getAuthOptions()` — use pi-ai `Models` methods directly
- Replaced `ModelRegistry.getApiKeyAndHeaders()` with `ModelRuntime.getAuth()`
- `ModelRegistry.refresh()` changed from synchronous `void` to `Promise<void>` — extensions must await it
- Dynamic catalog refresh moved to async `ModelRuntime.refresh()` / pi-ai `Models.refresh()`

- `ModelRuntime` as canonical async model/auth facade, accepts any pi-ai `CredentialStore`
- Provider-owned `/login` discovery from registered pi-ai providers
- File-backed dynamic catalogs (`models-store.json`), per-provider pi.dev catalog overlays, Radius gateway support
- Extension provider `refreshModels(context)` for dynamic model discovery
- `pi update --models` forces immediate catalog refresh
- xAI device-code OAuth login and Grok 4.5 with low/medium/high thinking
