Cline Desktop 0.0.8: edit an earlier message to fork and rewind the workspace
Editing any earlier message now forks the session at that point, rewinds the workspace to that run's checkpoint, and re-runs from the edited prompt, with transactional restores. Checkpoint reliability is fixed across restarts and compaction, and OpenRouter now defaults to Anthropic Claude Sonnet 5.

SOURCES1
- Edit an earlier message: session forks at that point, workspace rewinds to that run's checkpoint, re-runs from the edited prompt; restores are transactional and workspace-atomic
- Checkpoints created reliably after restart, after compaction, and on the first turn of a resumed session; restore rewinds the whole workspace; restores after closing and reopening a session fixed
- Long-running chat turns no longer time out mid-response
- Reasoning controls (effort, thinking budget, on/off) sourced from the shared model catalog per model rather than provider-specific guesses
- OpenRouter default model is now Anthropic Claude Sonnet 5
- Gateway-forwarded provider errors show the real upstream message (e.g. context-length errors) instead of
[object Object] - Ollama: empty responses retried, response-start timeout raised to 5 minutes
- MCP servers honour their configured per-server timeout
- API keys for several providers no longer lost on migration from an older install; unknown/removed legacy model ids fall back to the default Cline model
- Agentic compaction persists reliably; a single-file
.clinerules(older format) no longer aborts the rules and config scan - Video input no longer dropped for capable models; workspace hint not sent for filesystem-root paths; custom OpenAI-Compatible model info carries into the seeded catalog
- "Enable R1 messages format" option removed from the OpenAI-Compatible provider
