Codex CLI 0.149.0 adds an interactive codex agents dashboard for managing tasks, a codex queue command for messaging existing local or remote sessions, and TUI commands for changing the working directory. It also expands codex doctor diagnostics and hardens several MCP, auth-token, and managed-config paths.
Adds Markdown conversation export via /export, session forking with codex exec fork, and the ability to draft prompts while the TUI initializes. Amazon Bedrock Runtime is now a built-in provider with AWS profile and region support. Hooks can run commands asynchronously and invoke MCP tools. Credit/cost estimates appear in /status and terminal titles. Bug fixes cover model switching, session resume, MCP recovery after OAuth reauthentication, sandbox path restrictions, and TUI rendering of CRLF and long URLs.
Adds installable portable Agent Plugins with search across local, personal, workspace, and remote catalogs, plus opt-in support for the MCP 2026-07-28 protocol revision (paginated discovery, multi-round requests, non-blocking server startup). The deprecated codex exec --full-auto flag is removed — use --sandbox workspace-write — and Linux bundle archives are no longer published. Unfamiliar local projects now require explicit trust before running.
Stable Codex CLI release adding named and pinned sessions, forkable threads with paginated history, Agent Plugins manifests with extra marketplaces, and remote Code Mode over WebSocket.
